Upcoming USJC Webinar Series

September 14th, 2011

I would suggest to register for any classes that you might be interested in NOW and you will get a reminder email as the date approaches. Another suggestion is to start to sign on approximately 5 minutes early as it takes a couple moments to download the program. Also, you DO NOT have to be a new member to attend a NMO, it is a great refresher course, as well as, can give you ideas of how to run a NMO in your chapter. Remember attending trainings count for your advancement in the Passport to Leadership program.

Birdies for Charity

April 5th, 2011

The BFC program can be a big money-making project for the local Jaycee chapters. There is NO RISK to this project. There are no out-of-pocket expenses. Whatever amount of money collected in pledges and donations will be the NET amount received. All administrative and promotional costs of the program will be paid by John Deere Health. The John Deere Foundation handles the collection of money. Individuals making pledges are eligible to win over 500 prizes.

The John Deere Classic Foundation and John Deere Health Foundation sponsor Birdies for Charity in association with the John Deere Classic PGA golf tournament held at Deere Run Golf Course in Silvis, Illinois on July 4-10, 2011. The objective of BFC is to obtain pledges of one cent or more for every birdie made during the tournament.

Based on 2,000 birdies being recorded, each one-cent pledge will earn $20. The local Jaycees chapter soliciting the pledge earns $18. Fifty cents worth of pledges will earn a local chapter approximately $900. How easy can that be to raise money for your chapter—and you don’t have to collect the money? The following POC points have been established for the 2011 Birdies for Charity project:

250 points – .01 – .20 cents worth of pledges collected
500 points – .21 – .40 cents worth of pledges collected
750 points – .41 – .60 cents worth of pledges collected
1000 points – over .61 cents worth of pledges collected

Pledges can be solicited until June 27, 2011. Since participating organizations must be a registered 501[c]3 organization, the Illinois Jaycee Charitable Foundation is sponsoring and coordinating this project on behalf of the Illinois Jaycees.

Interested chapters should contact project chairman Tony Symoniak (630-710-1065) or via email to request further information or to request a start-up kit and pledge forms.
